  1. Hello everyone,

I've recently bought LG 32LM5800 LED TV but the problem is that it don't have a Headphone Jack for private listening.

Here is the screen shot of the back of LED:

So what are my options of connecting a Headphone (don't care if its wired/wireless/bluetooth)

    Best Regards,

I don't see any audio outs there.

What are you plugging into the tv to play video?

What... not even the one marked DIGITAL AUDIO OUT?

    @ Softracker
Try hooking the digital audio out to an audio amplifier with a digital audio input.
And you could plug your headphones into that instead.

The TV has TOSLINK out. There are TOSLINK to analog converters with a headphone jack or stereo audio out:
    http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Converter-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B003XCHCLC.
    http://search.cablestogo.com/?N=0&Ntt=toslink%20to%20analog&p=e
    http://www.amazon.com/Orei-DA21-Optical-Converter-Headphone/dp/B008EPW7TA

[Edit]Reading apost in a similar thread reminded me that these devices require PCM audio input from the TV. They do not work if the TV's audio output over TOSLINK is a compressed format like AC3, or DTS.

This one supports DD/DTS/MPEG streams, aside from PCM, but not clear if its 1/8" outputs can directly handle headphones:

For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

  8. Thanks for the replies.

I'm quite confused. Can someone suggest a quality wireless Headphone that I can use with it directly with converters ?

    Regards,
To be connected to a TV that only has audio output via TOSLINK , most wireless headphones will need a converter similar to the ones previously linked to, and depending on the converter, could require PCM output over TOSLINK to work. Wireless heaphones with a base that accepts TOSLINK and decodes Dolby Digital and DTS are less common and, on average, more expensive.

This product has a TOSLINK connection, can decode Dolby Digital and DTS, and gets good reviews.

  10. @usually_quiet:

I'm trying to get the Sony Headphone, not easily available in our region.

BTW will this do the job ? because I can get it easily:

    http://www.vmart.pk/sennheiser-rs-170-digital-wireless-headphones-pakistan.html

If yes, how will it connect to my LED ? will it detect the digital audio out or would I have to use some cable ?

    Regards,
Those Sennheiser headphones would require a separate TOSLINK to analog converter, to connect the base to the TV, plus appropriate cables to make the connections. (The cables would be a TOSLINK cable and probably an RCA male to 3.5 mm male cable.) A converter that decodes Dolby digital and DTS like the Fiio D07 that turk690 would be a better choice than one that can only handle PCM input.

  13. Hi again,

While I'm still trying to get Sony locally, I came across this set from Edifier, kindly have a look:

    Will this also do ?

    Regards,
There is a headphone jack output on the amplifier, but neither the manual nor the specs for the Edifier C2XD say that it can decode Dolby digital and DTS received via TOSLINK, so I would say that it needs to receive PCM audio from the TOSLINK connection to work, like most of the small TOSLINK to analog converters linked to in this thread.

The Edifier C2XD appears to be a 2.1 PC speaker set, and it is probably fine for that. A PC can decode Dolby digital and DTS.
