  1. I'm trying to use Sony Cookie Cutter in Sony Vegas to add a circle around an image. But it appears that it only works on the RIGHT side of the page. Anything I try to do on the left disappears. Meanwhile, Sony Cookie Cutter is preceded by "Pan/Crop", which I can't delete. And Pan/Crop changes appear to only affect the left side of the page. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

First of all go to the pan/crop window and right click the image and choose "Match Output Aspect Ratio".

Then go to Cookie Cutter and select "default" from the dropdown.

    Now do what you want.

The Cookie Cutter can be sized and repositioned using the controls. Cookie Cutter is mostly used to make a transition.

Pan/Crop is always visible and first on the Fx chain. Whether you use it or not. It's there for easy access.

  3. budwzr,

Thanks for the reply. I must be doing something else wrong because I followed your directions and the problem still persists.

    Here is what is happening.

There is an invisible straight line down the middle, and anything I drag (in this case, a circle) that touches it disappears. So any part of the circle that is on the "left" side of the screen disappears. Meanwhile, there is an invisible half circle on the right side that also causes the circle I'm dragging around/resizing to disappear. It is as it there is a circle on the screen already that I can't see, and anything "outside" the circle is not viewable.

    Am I missing something? Thanks.

You must have Split Screen on in the preview window. Turn it off. It uses whatever is in the clipboard.

  5. I don't think I have a split screen. My layout is the default one. Regardles, how do I "turn off" the preview window? If the preview window is the screen view, how can I place/size my circle properly if I can't see it in relation to the screen? And where is the clipboard?

    Thanks.

Don't think, check. The Split Screen View button (to the left of preview quality button) pressed and left half selected? I think budthewiser already said that.

  10. Hey, guys.

Yes, I now see what budwzr meant about split screen. I see it. When I click on "select left half" or "select right half", I can see my circle outline as long as it is within that side of the screen. But if "select all", I see the whole screen, but I CANNOT see my circle shadow. If it's "FX bypassed", I just see the entire picture minus the circle shadow. If I select "clipboard", it is just a black screen.

I'm sure there is something simple I'm missing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Did you try turning the split screen button off yet?

  12. Yes, I clicked on the split screen button and it is off. I can now only see the circle shadow I made within a circle that is centered in the screen, with half of the circle on each side. If I drag the shadow beyond it in either direction, it doesn't show up.

Sorry, cannot reproduce the issue here. We probably would need to see what's on your timeline.

  14. I just realized the problem. I accidentally hit Event FX in the track itself. Sorry for the hassles.
