  1. So long story short, I ripped (using DVDShrink) a DVD recording of a kid's play, however when I play back the VOB file, the audio drops out after about 2 minutes. The original DVD has been damage beyond repair or recovery (believed me I tried, i.e IsoBuster), so that snot an option.

I'm fairly certain I didn't exclude any audio tracks when ripping, and the file size seems about right, 1.6 GB for about an hours worth of video. (and is close in size to the 2nd night's recording that didn't finalized, but I was able to recover with ISOBuster, but is missing the last 2 minutes)

I'm just wondering if anyone has seen this happen before, and if there is any possible way that the audio could be there, but just corrupted. I know its loooooooong shot, but if there any suggestions, or tools to try, please let me know.

    Thanks

if I mount the ISO this is what I have for files.

    VIDEO_TS.BUP approx 12KB
    VIDEO_TS.IFO approx 12KB
    VIDEO_TS.VOB approx 64KB
    VTS_01_0.BUP approx 64KB
    VTS_01_0.IFO approx 68KB
    VTS_01_1.VOB approx 1 GB
    VTS_01_2.VOB approx 500 MB

I don't understand.....you played back "the VOB file"?
A DVD contains more than one VOB file, and DVDShrink will certainly spit out more than one VOB file(unless you mucked with the settings).

  4. What hech54 is asking is why aren't you playing the DVD to test for the presence of audio, not the VOB.

You can open the 2 VOBs in DGIndex and go File->Save Project and by default it will give you whatever audio is in there.

OK. You have two VOB files that contain video....VTS_01_1.VOB and VTS_01_2.VOB.
You could always (re)open the ISO image in DVDShrink to see if the audio is there.
    I'm guessing this is a home-made DVD-R(or +R) from a DVD recorder or DVD-R based video camera
so there are no extra audio streams to "miss" or de-select.

The rule is....never mess with individual VOB files. Is the disc damaged or has it been appended and not finalized?
Crap discs (memorex, tdk, etc etc) always show their crap-ness at the end of the disc/recording.

Oh, I burned it to DVD as well, same issue.

The camera that was used to record, burns the DVDs sorta weird.

The original disc is damaged, sun damaged (it was a really cheap disc), so its a lost cause. I think the whole project is a lost cause.
