I ordered a few video gigs on fiverr and they turned out exactly what I expected - teens shooting with cell phones. Horrible...

    Fiverr? Never heard of it.

But that pic is vetical not horizontal for widescreen video.

I've noticed that on quite a few uploaded videos I've watched on youtube. It seems like people who shoot video with a cell phone don't know which way the lens is oriented. Is this a really common thing with "user generated" content?

i think the exact error is, the user is shooting video in the vertical position. they need to shoot in the horizontal position.

zoobie, go to their website and show them how to shoot

hmm.. i was just wondering.. do current hd tv's have a rotate feature ?

otherwise they (or anyone who d/l these videos) would have to re-encode again. although they could rotate the video in software players, vlc, mplayer, etc.

Yes sort of. I think its mostly meant for using hdtvs in stores where they like to hang them on aisles where they can use them as advertising for whatever is down that row.

However that is more of a permanent hardcoded thing. I don't think it will actually "rotate" the video to orient it properly like I think you are asking about. It just flips the whole thing not actual running video independently.

Then again I might be thinking about computer video cards as I have my dual core pc hooked up to the hdtv and it has a rotate screen feature.

Of course there is a probably a way to do it in software players like mpchc or vlc but I haven't run across enough videos like that which need it or that were important enough for me to be bother looking.

So in summary yes and no to your original question.

Edit - you sort of said the same thing at the end of your post - just noticed after I posted - oh well I guess repeated part of what you said already ---

yes, that is what i was asking about. i honestly believe they should include that as a feature since there are cameras (of all sorts) that produce video that way although it is probably due to the way the camera will rotate internally depending on how you hold it and what degree, etc. the point is, if a camera does that then there is merrit to include a feature for it, that's all.

    I've finally figured out fiverr.
It's a site rife with 18 year olds who have, as legal adults, immediately signed up for Paypal.
This is supposed to "suppliment" their income.
As usual, they can't take direction, can't run the software, and definitely can't deliver.
However, they can come up with interesting, lame, and typical excuses you'd expect from 18 year olds.
With success of only 1 out of 6, this gives me a 16% success rate.
Fiverr is supposed to hold my refunds in their account.
However, they've yet to show up.
    They owe me around $20.
    Three thumbs down.

PS - If you want to take a chance anyway, it's probably best to find someone twice the age.

  7. Fiverr.com is a handy website, if you have a skill in something, but your not an expert in that industry. You get what you pay for. Do you think an expert photographer would go out for a shoot and only get paid $5? I wouldn't think so. Often times it's either teenagers using the site, or users from other countries, where $5 bucks, is actually alot of money. Or people paying people in other countries to do the work, and only paying their employees half of what they're making.
