  2. Hi,

I don't have a solution to your exact problem, but have you tried to fool the DVD player into playing SVCD? Go here

    http://www.geocities.com/newestmoviesencode/dvdvcd

if you want more info. (It is on vcdhelp, but I can't remember where :( ) I tried it with my DVD player (Sony DAV-S800) and it worked like a dream!

    Hope this helps,

  4. Hi Nicmare,

Sorry the tip dosen't work :-(
I can't say I've seen the problem before, but I like a challenge (even if I can't succeeed!) Could you please post the exact processes you are going through, and could you also state what the original source is (DVD,SVCD and resolutions) and what you're trying to get it to (VCD, XVCD). Hopefully we can crack this one!

  5. hey hash, thanx verz much for your help. i worked with that tut: http://www.vcdhelp.com/mpeg2tovcd.htm and with several movie sources. so its every time another resolution etc but the same problem. So, the lines are only because of dvd2avi and tmpgenc. when i convert avi to vcd with tmpgenc there aren't the lines. Is there another way of converting svcd to vcd?!

  6. Hi Nic,

I can't think of a way to convert SVCD to VCD without dvd2avi, but it must be possible because dvd2avi dosen't work on my system (it never creates the video file correctly). I had to convert Lord of The Rings SVCD to VCD before I found out about the SVCD trick for my DVD player. I will try and find out how I did it and let you know!

P.S. You're English is better than my German :-)

  7. Just a couple of more ideas. Have you tried De-multiplexing the Video and Audio before you put them into DVD2AVI? (only put the video into DVD2AVI and save project) Then load into Tmpgenc and encode. Also the video isn't in NTSC and you're trying to encode into PAL or PAL and into NTSC?
Does Nero think the imported VCD is correct? Or does it want to re-encode?

  8. hey! lord of the rings was my first try(same prob)! lol! but can u exactly explain what u mean mith multiplexing, please? open the svcd in tmpgenc first and demultiplex it and then open it in dvd2avi and save it and then with tmpgenc? or what?

/another prob: nero says at every vcd film that the datecoding (datencodierung) is wrong for videocd. what can i do???
    greets

  9. Hi,

Right here is what I did this morning so I know it works. In this example the file name is Lotr.mpg and is a SVCD in NTSC

Load Tmpgenc then goto, File -> Mpeg Tools -> Simple De-Multiplex
    (input) c:\Lotr.mpg
    (video output) c:\Lotr.m2v
    (audio output) c:\Lotr.mp2
    Then press 'Run'

You should now have three files 'Lotr.mpg' (the original file), 'Lotr.m2v' (the video part of the file) and 'Lotr.mp2' (the audio part of the file)

Load DVD2AVI the goto, File -> open -> click 'add' (find Lotr.m2v and click 'open') -> click 'OK'. File -> Save project [F4] type 'Lotr.d2v' (or whatever you want to call it) and click 'save' It should then run and save the file.

You should now have four files 'Lotr.mpg' (the original file), 'Lotr.m2v' (the video part of the file), 'Lotr.mp2' (the audio part of the file) and the new video file 'Lotr.d2v'

Load Tempgenc. Where is says 'Video Source' click browse and put in 'Lotr.d2v'. Where it says 'Audio Source' click browse and put in 'Lotr.mp2' (you may have to say 'All files(*.*)' to see it). Then where it says 'Output file name' type in the name of the new file e.g. 'LotrVCD.mpg'. Then click Load (below the 'Stream type' box). Then find 'VideoCD (NTSC).mcf' OR 'VideoCD (PAL).mcf' depending on the type of video. In this case 'VideoCD (NTSC).mcf'. Then click 'Start' and wait for it to finish encoding.

You should now have five files 'Lotr.mpg' (the original file), 'Lotr.m2v' (the video part of the file), 'Lotr.mp2' (the audio part of the file), 'Lotr.d2v' (the DVD2AVI output file) and the final new file 'LotrVCD.mpg'

Then load Nero Buring ROM, click 'Video-CD' leave all untouched except for the 'Encoding Resolution' where you need to choose 'PAL' OR 'NTSC', in this case 'NTSC' then copy LotrVCD.mpg' over and burn!

Hopefully this should work :-), it does on my computer.

P.S. Nero version 5.5.6.4. Tmpgenc version 2.51.33.127 DVD2AVI version 1.76 OS Windows XP Pro

  10. oh my gosh, hope it works...i'm still reencoding it...

/edit: in the preview window i can still recognize the bug:

very frustrating, isnt it??? I mean the lines are not every time visible but u can see them :). In my opinion dvd2avi is the prob.
but this way seems to be more faster. only advantage

  11. Hi Nic,

Frustrating indeed! Could you e-mail me with a 5Meg clip of the original file and I will give it a go on my machine.

  13. i used to wonder how to do taht too.......These are caused, i think only for PAL, but i'm not sure :p
i encode mpeg2 trp to svcd and used to have the same problems.....but then i saw that u can deinterlace (double click on interlace and choose the fileter u wanna add) video with tmpeg which means that u can add blur to the picture and this will solve the problem....on a 480x576 it doesn't look like u've added blur but i have no idea how it will look on a vcd....just give it a go......i'm pretty sure it will work.....try differnet filter first
    hoep i helped :)
