I've ripped pretty much all in the DVD but I like its menu so much that I want to keep it. Using VLC, I've check the lengths of the menu section. I've used DVDfab in Copy section, sub-section Customize then chose a single of the smallest files, but none of the menu lengths was mentioned. It was nicely as VLC loading the dumped folder plays just fine.
I thought the menu size was large considering the small length of the combined menu ones. I went into VIDEO_TS directory and tried to play the largest files which had the extension VOB. Well VLC wouldn't play them so I was pretty sure none of my less versatile media player software would do.
I wondered what kind of other program could likely handle that type of file and video editor came in mind. The one I have is Avidemux and it indeed handled the task. I figured there was 4 languages and getting rid of the 3 others would end with a folder size I'd be happy to keep. After a bit of folder exploring I wondered if VIDEO_TS.IFO would show which files of the folder was associated to which language so I can get rid of them (if one of the undesired languages).
I loaded VIDEO_TS.IFO in a hex editor and the 2nd non-null section started with language codes so I thought it was a nice lead. so I made a search and it seem it's an important file for DVD menu. I then made a search for "VIDEO_TS.IFO reader" which yield didn't seem related to my goal ; again, just deleting files of certain languages.
Perhaps I could make head of tail from the content, through the hex editor, but I'm pretty sure there's already something out there that does just that in a jiffy.
Thanks for your help or hint
