  1. I've been on Video Help all afternoon looking into this and I decided to sign up for some assistance. Anyways, I have 24 MKV files that are all working perfectly and synced just fine. I need to repack these as MP4 so I can view them on my Xbox.

This is where the issues begin. When I tried Gotsent, the videos would play but the frame rate got bumped from 23.967 to 29.97, meaning the video was playing faster and the audio was WAY out of sync. Safesync was greyed out for some reason when loading a file, so I checked it off before loading to try it and half way through the conversion it would say a file already existed and ask if I wanted to overwrite, no matter my choice (yes or no) it would error and end the conversion.

I scrapped Gotsent and tried XenonMKV. The same issue occurred with the frame rate, and I was able to try safesync and it did nothing.

I then tried MKVtoMP4. It converted the video and audio fine BECAUSE I was able to tell the program that the video had a variable frame rate, so it didn't speed it up and the audio was synced fine. The problem is, is that these MP4 files will not play on my Xbox. I re encoded the audio down to two channels. The MKV files were already h264 and the out of sync conversions played on the Xbox, but these won't. I know it's the video causing the issue because I used MKVtoMP4 and excluded everything but the video, including audio and it still errored.

Basically, I need to know what to set in MKVtoMP4 to have the videos work on the Xbox and not just give an error, or I need to know how to use Xenon or Gotsent with Variable Frame Rates.

  3. Do you stream the video to the xbox 360? I only use my XBOX 360 when I watch movies and videos, I use Universal Media Server, then you can also stream MKV files, but if you want MP4 I reencode the video with Handbrake or Vidcoder, I choose preset and constant frame rate and a CRF 20, then it looks beatiful and runs smoothly on the xbox.

This applies for all of them. I noticed now that it says it has a constant frame rate, but it says the frame rate is 23.976, and the original frame rate is 29.970. All the programs, including the basic view in MediaInfo, seem to pick up 29.970 instead of 23.976.

  5. So, I've looked into it more. Basically I need to supply 23.976 to Gotsent and it will work. I just don't know how to do that.

The highest you can go on xbox 360 is 4 Reference frames

  7. Untrue. The ones done with Gotsent still have 16 Reference frames and they play fine on my Xbox, except they are playing at 29.97 FPS rather than 27.967 so the video is like 5 minutes shorter and way out of sync with the audio because the video is so much faster.

  8. Thought I'd let everyone know that I got it to work. I used Avidemux and simply copied the video stream and remixed the audio stream down to AAC(Faac) Stereo and I used MP4 Muxer as the output format. They are all in sync and playing fine on my Xbox now.

Sorry if I've bumped before I am supposed too, but I figured I'd let everyone know to avoid further conversation.
