Hey all. I have a video file that I'm unable to split/edit. I'm using Boilsoft Video Splitter v5.21. When loading the file into the program, a pop-up message appears that reads: "The format of [video file path] can't be recognized!"; The video file does play in Potplayer, MPC, and WMP so I'm not sure if it's a codec issue. I've tried renaming the file extension to both .avi and .mp4 and the Video Splitter program was still unable to recognize the file. Here's some of the file info: General: Format: OGG, Video: Format: AVC, Format/Info: Advanced Video Codec, Codec ID: H264, Audio#1: Format: Vorbis Any help is appreciated.

The OP was originally posted in multiple paragraphs, however for some reason, wasn't saved in the original format?

sounds like it's a file your splitter can't handle. you could try re-encoding to a different format like a lossless codec. maybe huffyuv, it might like better.

you'd get more info on your video if you used mediainfo in text mode. it's free.

Thanks for the reply aedipuss. I've since added a text document (to the OP) of what I originally had posted with the media info from Potplayer.

I'm not sure if any editor supports Ogg Vorbis containers. I have no experience with Vorbis so I can't make specific recommendations, but try to demux the audio and video from the Vorbis file and create an MKV file instead from them.

Thanks for the reply jman98. I'm not sure if Boilsoft Video Splitter can demux files, and I've previously tried to split MKV files with BVS and had no success.

I'm wondering if this type of file format(AVC?) needs a specialized type of splitter/editor?

  7. I'm not sure if my memory serves me well on this but I don't believe Boilsoft Video Splitter supported AVC before version 6.0.

Free Video Dub does. At least in MKV container. I don't know if it'll support OGG but you could try. You make your cuts and save the rest.

Thanks for the reply videobruger. Didn't have any luck with that program either.
I was planning on upgrading to the newest version of Boilsoft Video Splitter. This might be a good time to look into it. I'll see if anyone else here might have an alternative solution to splitting an AVC file.
