I am using Virtual Dub to extract the sound from my clips, which were downloaded. They are compressed with Divx4, more specifically divx 4.12.
How can I get the same sound quality as with Mpeg-4 codecs? When I play my VCD I hear a buzzing sound when there is talking or music. Why is that and how can I get rid of it?
I use TMPGenc to make the Mpeg-1 file. I use the Wav file ripped with Virtual dub and add it to the file I'm converting. So far this always results in a crappy sound output, unless the file was compressed with Mpeg-4 instead of Divx 4.12.
Thanks,
Tanuki

If the original sound track is bad, then yes you need to extract the sound and process it with something like www.goldwave.com
The Avi will be using a particular video codec, but the sound codec could be anything these days
Its difficult to improve rubbish recordings -
Thanks, I'll try that. I wish EVERYONE would use mpeg4 but they are all using 4.12 on anime, which creates bad sound on vcd...this sucks!
