Sony Movie Studio12 DVD Importing

When I import video from a DVD, Sony Movie Studio creates a series of 5-minute mpg clips. I add the clips to the timeline to edit. When I play the clips on the timeline, however, there is a noticeable gap between clips.

Are these gaps only noticeable on the timeline? Will they disappear once burned to a DVD?

I would like to know if there is a way to import one large mpg clip instead of numerous 5-min clips. If not, is it possible to join clips and remove the gaps between them? Thanks.

Yes it is.

The stop doing that - turn that option OFF in the DVD recorder menu options.
VOB2MPEG should work and give you one, giant lump of video.
If not....DVDDecrypter can also do it.

I didn't make the DVD, so there was nothing I could do about the chapter markers. However, it looks like it will take Movie Studio over an hour to render a DVD that is 1:44:00 in length.

The video is already DVD compatible mpeg2, so I'm surprised it takes so long. Is it normal to take this long?
