    Hi,

I used Amarecco before but it installed a potentially dangerous file on my computer so I stopped using it. However these newer versions I do not believe install any viruses/spyware, etc. They are very hard to find I don't believe the publisher distributes these versions just the latest which is bundled with shareware codec that you have to install so it is no longer freeware.

I've included download link for the two last freeware versions and two plugins that help with capture (i don't know how they work) and the unpackaged versions that work without having to install on your system. As mentioned above you should be careful about installing on your system as an old version of amarecco installed a potentially dangerous file. Try it out on a virtual pc or so first. I've haven't totally tested the two versions out but I believe they work with recording video and some games. By the way on version 3.00a don't install the codec unless you want it to be shareware. Works in win 7 x64 just fine.
At least for the 3.00 unpackaged version which does work fully without installing it, i've scanned my computer thoroughly and found no viruses or spyware. When i installed it, I used the last freeware version of total uninstall and checked to see what kind of stuff the program installs or creates when running the program, nothing bad that I could see. Anyways, it seems to be one of the best screen recorder programs I've tested. Records videos playing in wmp and pc games as well. Also it records video from fancast other flash movie sites. Records sound and lets you choose video codecs. Doesn't allow for choosing audio codec so it audio is uncompressed so the file is a bit larger than normal but you can get around that by encoding/converting with your favorite program. The program doesn't seem to stress computer out that much either.

Just to note it is best to install the program as it will not record totally in realtime meaning if you use ffdshow post processing filter when decoding video (playback) and you use the unpackaged version of amarrecco the output doesn't show the post processing. You have to install amarecco then it will work I've tested that.
