  1. Okay i've done a few dvd rips to svcd and i've seen a few on the scene the max i can get out of an mpeg2 file to a 80min cd is 39mins 59 secs though i have seen a few svcds at 54 and 55mins what am i doing wrong? I rip with smartripper and encode with tmpeg quality is good but i think it is the bitrates that make the size anyone know how to get even 50mins of mpeg2 on one 80min cd??

  2. You got it! It is the bitrate. Bits/sec x sec = size.

Under tools try fooling around with a bitrate calculator.

I tried the top one for svcd 55min movie, 1 80min cdr,
96 audio, gave me 1872 avg bitrate. That shouldn't
look too bad after a VBR encode.
