  1. What are the BEST cd-r's that you can buy if you want to burn SVCD's using nero. Also, is their any advantage to using CD-RW's?

  2. A lot can depend on what you intend to play them with. Some of the more forgiving stand-alone players (a buddy has Pioneer player, the model of which escapes me) could probably play a piece of moldy cheese, if you stuffed one in the tray and hit the play button.

    Is there a particular make and model number you had in mind? If so, look to the left side at "Other...DVD players", there's a lot of input there from users about specific players. You could post the make/model here too, and see if users of your player have any suggestions.
