  1. Ok first im new here, this site is pretty good with supplying information. I have looked around and still my question has not been answered. Im still going to look for more information on how to do stuff on this site. Here is my question, I have ripped dvd files onto my hard drive and now I have the files as vob files. Now is there a way to make these into mpg files some how. Also once I turn them into mpg and burn them on a disc will I be able to watch them on my ps2 dvd player. It says here http://www.vcdhelp.com/easycd.htm that i will be able to, so will i then. Sounds weird that a dvd played will play mpg movies. Im new so take it easy on me. Sorry if I stated anything wrong. Im learning and I want to learn alot more. Thanks in advance. Also can someone clear up these terms.

    vob
    vcd
    mpg
    mpeg

  3. errr...have you taken a look at the guides on this website...they are complete and will guide you from DVD to MPEG

as for PS2, i wouldn't even consider that a DVD player...it sucks...even DVD playback is lacking on it...

as for compatibility in playing MPEG...it depends on which type of MPEG...1) if you're making standard VCD MPEG-1, then i believe there's a PS2 converter you can buy to allow PS2 to play standard VCDs....but i believe it's pretty expensive but i don't think the PS2 plays VCDs by itself 2) if you're making SVCD MPEG-2, it is completely out of the question, the PS2 will not be able to play these higher quality MPEGs

  4. I have looked at some of the guides, but I have not found that one yet I guess. So will any normal dvd player that not in my computer, play mpg or mpeg movies.

  5. This FAQ will answer a lot of questions:

    http://www.cdrfaq.org/faq.html
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
