  1. I thought this might qualify as Video News. George Lucas has sold Lucas Films for over 4 billion dollars to Disney. There is talk that a new trilogy of Star Wars films is going to be made and a new Star Wars movie every couple of years there after. Here is a link:

When you think of Disney buying Pixar, Marvel and now Lucas Films, they are becoming quite the media empire. George Lucas is still with Lucas Films, but limited to the role of a Creative Consultant. I get a feeling though we will find out at some point poor Jar Jar Binks got sucked into a black hole never to be heard of again.

I just had a thought since Disney owns Pixar, Marve and Lucas Films, imagine the crossover potential for characters from the various realms mixing it up, whether that is a good idea, who knows?

  2. I think it's a smart move for both companies, Lucas can buy California with his money and Disney can re-release Star Wars every seven years.

  3. They could probably please a lot of fans and make some series money if they were to put out the Original Versions of the Star Wars Trilogy, the way they were before George Lucas fiddled with aka improved them by adding stuff he couldn't at the time because the technology was available yet.

I think it could work out well; as perhaps a new vision for the franchise might be what is needed. I went and read some additional articles and I had forgotten that George Lucas also had the Indiana Jones franchise. I imagine that they will hunt for a new actor to play Indiana Jones and get that money maker revamped to make some more money.

    Why ??
So he can die with 54 billion instead of 50 billion ?!?!
    LOL!!!
I am amazed the guy is still alive!!!!
And his family will be fighting for years over his massive fortune after he dies!!
They will probably die after years of fighting over his massive fortune and property!!

    Where ?
    By who ?
A remake of the original trilogy ??
Talk about $$$ thrown down the drain!!!

It is way to much of a classic and has way to big of a following through many generations to ever do anything but fail epically if
someone was dumb enough to try and remake the original trilogy with new actors!!!

And what I saw in the link you posted it said,
In a statement announcing the purchase, Disney said it planned to release a new Star Wars film, episode seven, in 2015
That will be followed by episodes eight and nine and then one new movie every two or three years, the company said.
Maybe I missed it, but I saw nothing and have seen nothing about a "new trilogy of star wars films" being made....

It's like something I saw on another site a couple of days ago....

They are releasing a "remake" of the original "Evil Dead" and it looks pretty good.
But someone said it was a "sequel" when in fact it is NOT a sequel as there is already a sequel, Evil Dead 2 & Evil Dead 3, better known as ARMY OF DARKNESS.

Point is, it is not a sequel as there is already a sequel so it is a remake and I don't see anything about a remake of the original trilogy but more chapters in the story, as in
    episode seven

  5. Noahtuck: I didn't phrase it right when I wrote trilogy. It is episodes 7, 8 and 9; I was writing about; sorry for the confusion. They could come up with something quite interesting when it comes to Star Wars. The Marvel purchase has worked pretty well for Disney so far.

  6. I certanly hope that they don't kidify this series now. Being owned by Disney seems natural and I'm pretty sure they will do it 'right'.

Almost a month later I'm not sure we should still be commenting on this, but...
To speak directly to your points, Disney has left its recent acquisitions alone if they seem to know what they are doing (ie. Pixar, Marvel). Given how Lucas himself already "kidified" the series (ie. Jar Jar Binks, and going further back the Ewoks) years ago, ANYTHING that gets Lucas the hell out of the way cannot be anything but positive in my opinion. Lucas managed to kill my fond memories of Episodes 4-6 with his lame episodes 1-2. His departure was the only possible means of salvaging the franchise. I'm just sorry it didn't happen sooner.

  8. Jman is correct about star wars being "kidified". I lost interest after seeing those weird midget Ewoks.

Yeah, here was the third and final release of the trilogy when Darth Vador and the emperor got their comeupuance, and how does it end? Dancing in front of a bonfire with a bunch of teddy bears. Letdown.
