Is Roxio Toast as good as we think ?!!

I use Roxio Toast 9 Titanium for many years now. By searching on the web, I read that Toast wasn't known for quality. The guy was talking about encoding I guess.

I know Toast is slow when it's time to encode (don't know if it's better on Toast 10-11), but for the quality, I don't know if my standards are too low but I thought it was doing a good job ! Anyone heard of that poor quality of Toast ?

Is it better to use another software for encoding (ffmpeg or other) and use Toast just for burning ?

I heard about DVD Creator for Mac. Anyone using this ? Is it better than Toast ?

I avoid Toast for encoding as it is very slow, not sure how the quality compares.

Toast is easy, and most of tiume reliable. It does a lot of differnet stuff, so it is well know on mac.
Quality is not so bad, but its optimizations are ugly.
But that's not very important in fact, 'cause it easly does its job.

yes ffmpeg is better, because you can adapt its processes to the essence of your source. BUT it's not esay at all AND you need to exactly know what you are doing!

so easy way: use a third soft like toast (or another)
better way if you are an expert, uglier way if you are not : use ffmpeg
