  1. Hi I'm installing my new system with intel motherbard (D850MV) and it has a built in sound system AC' 97 so is it better then sound blaster live for better sound quality if so I'll remove my SB live card . please advice

  2. i have the same sound card onboard my M/B personally i dont rate it. I have never heard a soundblaster live but i would imagine it would be better than the AC '97
    most ppl say somethin smart or profound here.......... I won't

  3. I've always read that the onboard AC97 sound chips are relatively poor compared to a "real" sound card. If you already have a SoundBlaster Live, I'd disable the onboard sound and use that. The only exception would be if you don't mind the quality of the onboard sound and you need the slot for another card.

    I think it is just fine for normal sounds and ok for music. But if you want high quality sound for listening to songs the onboard sound doesn't cut it.

    I assume you're asking about using the AC97 inputs to capture the audio portion of a video. I'd say the same rules apply to input as to output: unless you're trying to capture the highest quality sound, like a music DVD for example, the AC97 input should be adequate. Just realize an audio chip that's part of a motherboard that costs $90 isn't going to compete with a soundcard that, alone, costs that much.
