  2. Here's a short list I have (most are mod 16, not exhaustive):

    Code:
    1920x1440
    1280x960
    1024x768
    960x720
    720x540
    704x528
    640x480
    576x432
    512x384
    448x336
    384x288
    320x240
    256x192
    192x144
    128x96
    64x48
It's easy enough to generate your own list:

    Code:
    1*4 = 4 ---- 1*3 = 3
    2*4 = 8 ---- 2*3 = 6
    3*4 = 12 ---- 3 *3 = 9
    4*4 = 16 ---- 4*3 = 12
If you only want mod 16 sizes:

    Code:
    1*4*16 = 64 ---- 1*3*16 = 48
    2*4*16 = 128 ---- 2*3*16 = 96
    3*4*16 = 192 ---- 3 *3*16 = 144
    4*4*16 = 256 ---- 4*3*16 = 192

That blog has some specious reasoning in it.

The idea that DVD 16:9 aspect isn't somehow a "true" resolution is odd at best. What he really intends to say is that he wants a 1:1 aspect resolution with 16:9 dimensions. But that's not any more/less "true" than the other. Both provide 16:9 picture.

In fact, the compressed-height pixels of the DVD may provide more detail at that width than 1:1 pixels.

The relation to broadcast standards is also tenuous at best. The full DVD-Video specs exceed the narrow specs used for traditional broadcasting. To say nothing of the extended DVD-VR specs.

Be careful what you read online. Some people have no idea what the hell they're talking about.
