I'm sure that this topic has already been covered somewhere, but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so anyway, here goes...
I am trying to encode an avi (DIVX) to a vcd compatible mpeg-1 file and almost every time I do this, when I play it on my standalone, occasionally some information from one frame is carried over into the next few. This usually happens on a scene change, but sometimes just at no place in particular. I've tried changing most of the settings in TMPGEnc but nothing I do seems to work. Hell, I've even tried splicing good parts from different encoding sessions into 1 file but then I get the same problem in places that were fine before.
Any ideas?

Not really sure what you are saying but try setting 'detect scene change' under the GOP tab of the settings dialogue

I've already tried that.
The problem I am having is, for example, a character is in a certain position but then moves an arm or whatever. What happens is the arm will move to the new position, but the part of the picture that was there before does not change at the same time. So it looks like an extra arm has grown - one where it should be and one where it was, both present at the same time.
This effect also happens on a scene change, but instead of the whole scene changing at once, "pieces" of the picture change at different intervals, making the overall result 'unpleasant'.
I hope this clears things up a little.
