  1. Hey, I am trying to add .ssa subtitles to a .mov video and I get flickering subtitles.

    I've read it can be that my CPU is slow. But is it that it's just an effect produced while playing them or they are really flickering in the video I created?

    How can I solve this, please???

    What kind of flickering ? Brightness/luminance or aliasing ?

    Does if flicker on a different , faster computer ? If no , then it's your computer or something about your setup

    Is there any animation in the subtitles? Did you use any thin fonts ?

    What kind of video compression? What bitrate? Did you maybe inadvertently encode interlaced ?

    You can upload a small sample - "a video is worth a thousand words"

  3. Hi poisondeathray!! Thanks so much!!! I'm not sure about some of the answers. I've been trying many things.

    It also flickers the same way on the other computer, but it's similar to this one, with 2G RAM.

    No animation at all. Just some italics. Thin fonts??

    Video compression? YOu mean what codec? H264. Bitrate is around 5000 kbps. I used the option Deinterlaced/No from Format factory

    Not sure about the type of flickering. It's like a repeated blink. Like a fast lightning effect.

    I will send you the video via PM.

    Thanks!

  5. Hi!

    I'm having trouble with the subtitles of a video, which keep flickering. I was told that the subtitles go "on/off/on" instead of just "on/off". So, they go on and off for one extra frame or so, apparently, and that could be probably the cause for the flickering.

    The ssa file is like this:

    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:03:42.24,0:03:45.63,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,{\i1}Luego del alta, fue operado.\NTiene un tubo de alimentación.{\i0}
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:03:45.74,0:03:47.55,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,Es la mezcla de comida de Simon.
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:03:47.60,0:03:52.84,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,{\i1}Igual que para cualquier niño\Nde tres años y medio, pero mezclado.{\i0}
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:03:52.87,0:03:53.87,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,{\i1}Y se ve igual.{\i0}
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:03:54.30,0:03:57.27,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,Cada vez que comes,\Npones uno en el sartén
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:03:57.38,0:03:59.34,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,y luego puede usar el iPad.
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:03:59.58,0:04:03.54,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,{\i1}Lo siguiente es que empiece\Na comer más por la boca.{\i0}
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:04:03.61,0:04:05.07,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,{\i1}Es una comida terapéutica.{\i0}
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:04:05.69,0:04:10.01,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,Muy bien, Simon... Dos bocados...
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:04:11.87,0:04:12.89,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,Mastica y traga.
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:04:13.00,0:04:14.41,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,{\i1}Es lo que cuesta más.{\i0}
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:04:14.45,0:04:16.95,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,{\i1}Comer es complicado,\Ny el riesgo es alto.{\i0}
    Dialogue: Marked=0,0:04:17.02,0:04:18.86,Default,NTP,0000,00 00,0000,!Effect,{\i1}Si no traga bien, se atraganta.{\i0}

    Does anybody see something wrong which could be interpreted as a kind of overlapping by the program? I'm using Format Factory to add the subtitles and the video is MOV with H264 and 29.97 fps.

    Thanks!
