Hi im new at this, we had just bought a Philips HTS5592 surround system (spelling) and we wonder if its possible to get it region free, my sister lives in Australia and sha sends us some movies to us, but we can only see them on the computor, and tha cp can only change 3 times so my wishes is that the BD could get regionfree so the computor can be sat back to odenary region (Sweden)

    thamk you

It's hard to say. While Philips does make some (note that "some" does NOT mean "all") BD players that can be made region free, they make fewer players that can be region free than they did maybe 7 years ago where it was almost impossible to find anything they made that couldn't be made region free. Most BD players can't be made region free and speciality players (ie. TV/DVD combos, VCR/DVD combos, home theater systems like yours, portables) can almost never be made region free. The odds are highly against you. Do an internet search and if you can't find a hack code then one probably doesn't exist for your player.

Finally, do note that if you somehow unlock the player that it will be DVD playback only. And while this should not be a problem for you since you live in Europe, our reports are that the few Philips BD players that can be unlocked do not convert between NTSC and PAL DVD and simply display the DVD in the format it's in. This is a big negative for those of us in NTSC land but again it should not be an issue for you as your TV very likely can handle NTSC video and any Australian DVDs would be in PAL anyway, which is what Sweden uses. North American TVs usually can't handle PAL video signals so not being able to convert between PAL and NTSC is really big deal to a lot of us.
