    Hello all,

I'm looking to start a website with instructional videos for musicians. In the past, I've done a good amount of audio recording and a tiny bit of video with my basic FlipCam and iMovie.

However, I'd like these 30-60min videos to look professional, ideally with 2 cameras, but am at a total loss as far as first steps. I'm not sure if I should hire out a videographer, or if I should just rent some equipment and find a video-savvy friend to help me run the equipment (since by myself I haven't a clue).

Ideally, I'd love to spend about $1000 on the video, but I realize that this might be unrealistic.

Does anyone have any ideas as far as where to begin and how much I could expect to spend? (I'm probably not giving you nearly enough info)

    Thanks so much!

Ok doctor-in-training, are you trying to apply a topical ointment for poison ivy, trying to fix a broken arm, or trying to do emergency brain surgery?

Iow, what level of quality, professionalism and complexity are you expecting? Topic? Program length? Audience? Time constraints? Other equipment?

30 to 60 minutes sounds too long to me.

    Hello there,

Basically, I am looking to do something like what you see here:
    http://truefire.com/tftv/index.html?channel=jump-start-acoustic&videofile=mp4:guitar-j...rgjsag01-intro.

The audience would be musicians viewing the video over the net. As for other equipment, unfortunately, I don't know that first thing about what equipment I'd need besides a good camera and professional lighting, possibly some mics if the camera's mic is not sufficient.

As for 30-60 minutes being too long, I can tell you that there are many instructional videos that last that long. I would be breaking the video into as many short chapters as possible, but I personally don't see a problem with a 30-60 minute video as long as it consists of useful and compelling content, no?

    Thanks guys!

I know many instructional guitar videos that long, but I don't know of any on the web. No one plays through a whole dvd at one time, and I just don't think it'd work streamed. Breaking it up into smaller parts would be a lot better.

Yep, if you go to the link I included im my last post, you can see that the video is broken into many small micro-videos. But to get all of those micro-videos, you need the raw footage which can be between 30-60 mins in my experience. Does that make sense, or am I missing something?
