import,stretch, burn

my sony dcr-hc30 only records in 320/240 so when I import using iMovie and burn to dvd I get a very small picture so I import then convert to a format that handbrake accepts and then stretch and then burn to dvd. Is there a more efficient way of doing this?

Yes, record to tape and use the ilink (firewire) port to feed imovie. The image will be bigger and clearer and the dvd process will be more efficient. The camera shoots native 720x480. I'm assuming you use iDVD.
