  1. Hello,
Picked up a Canon M500 and have run into something peculiar. If I record anything longer than 11:20, the file is being split into two or more files. It shows up as one clip on the camera, but multiple clips whether reading from the card slot or directly from the camera hooked up to the computer. I am recording in AVCHD format.

I'm sure there's a reason for this but I'd sure like to know what it is. I can join the clips in Vegas for a glitch-free video. If anybody could tell me why I'd sure be thankful!

    Yeah, that's my guess.

  5. The files are being split at 1.9 or I would have thought it was due to the FAT file system as well. Strange indeed. Thanks for the replies!

  6. Many programs had problems when files reached 2 GB. In computer programming a 32 bit integer can be signed or unsigned. Signed values range from -2 billion to +2 billion, unsigned range from 0 to 4 billion. Sloppily written programs used signed integers rather than unsigned integers for file sizes. So many programs limit the file size to 2 GB.
