Hey guys I have a general question, though it's somewhat advanced.
I want to stop x264 from removing color detail for compression -completely-. The things I know that affect it are chroma qp offset, and I know that using trellis also adds a -2 or -3 (I think) to the chroma qp offset automatically.
So firstly, if I want to do this, do I set chroma qp offset to -12? Or perhaps that's the opposite of what I want?
Secondly, would I have to disable trellis as well, to achieve this?
Also, is there more to it then this? Or is there a more streamlined approach to doing this?
I encode with MeGUI, and I couldn't find anything obvious. I love color, and I'm just trying to figure out how to go about getting the right settings. What I've stated above is the best I can come up with, but it could definitely be wrong. I'd consider myself somewhere between new to amateur at encoding.
Thanks!
