A weird thing happened just now.

I took the plunge and ordered "one-o-dem" GoPro 2 Professional models yesterday from Amazon for $265 OTD, and that's with FREE shipping. And today, the order was still in "Shipping Soon" status.

So I went back to the product page to read up a little more, and the price had dropped to $258 OTD, same terms. So I canceled my pending order, reordered at the lower price, and only had to add $5 for next day delivery, so I'll get it tomorrow.

    Whoo-Hoo

It dropped another $3, dammit, hahaha.

This is my second GoPro. I have two now. They're great for sticking on your car.

The 2 model has an app coming out soon that you can use to see what the camera sees, and control the camera with an Android or idevice.

And the specs are 2X the previous model. And it has 120 fps capture mode, half second intervalometer, and too many more goodies.

Also, it can shoot 10 full sensor stills in a second! That's PRO camera stuff. Sure, any camera can shoot 30fps or more, but those are low resolution video stills only 1080 pixels wide. No good for beauty shot stills.

I have the wifi backpack too ($99), and it works on both cams, but only for remote control on the Hero1. At first, having remote control sounds like a bling-gimmick, but no. This system is vastly different. Since it's based on wifi instead of IR or whatever, the range is up to 600 ft, and no line of sight needed.

The wifi allows the camera and handheld controller to give each other status updates, so it's a verified positive status. That means if the remote shows "recording", you KNOW that you're recording. Not so with other regular remote control systems, they are "dumb" compared to GoPro's.

I've extensively tested it attached to my car, and out of my sight, and it works flawlessly every time. The remote let's you change modes on the camera too, so you can switch between stills, bursts, intervalometer, and video.

I'm going out to shoot a baby sequence in the park today, and I have the GoPro attached to a monopod with a Zoom recorder mounted behind it on the pole. I'll post some stuff later, let's see how it goes.
