What is multiplexing and why do I need to edit the subs too ?

I seem to need to convert the .sub file to .srt file to use SubMux, right?
I think that my .sub file isn't good, can I check it in anyway?

I guess your .sub is a binary and not a txt file. Then you have to reencode with VirtualDub using the vobsub filter. Or use Direct vobsub as direct show filter. http://www.doom9.org/dvobsub.htm
    Submux accept text files only.

How do I "reencode with VirtualDub using the vobsub filter"?
I found the filter menu and added the vobsub filter .. it then opened the littler window and it wants me to add an .ifo file .. which I don't have nor know how to get. help

Well, it only says .ifo files and it doesn't show .sub files ... but anyhow, I typed in *.* and it let me see all the files, I selected the .sub file but nothing really happend .. nothing seemed to load. Which made my susspicion even more so .. maybe my .sub file, which I got, isn't good at all... can I check it somehow, load it onto media player or something?

Nonononono, you should start to read now. If you can not search the forum you should at least be able to follow the links, that I provided. All you questions are answered there.
First question, is the .sub created by vobsub? If yes, you can play it with win media player and direct vobsub.

Yes, the sub also has an .idx file that says its from VobSub.
How so I play the sub file in media player?
I'm sorry for being a slow guy

    DirectVobSub

DirectVobSub comes with an installer now, so the guide is a little outdated. However, read it carefully.

I am glad, that you finally mentioned VCD. Did you follow the doom9 guide? Load the .sub instead of the ifo. Yes you can.

edit: are you sure you told me the whole story now?
edit: since the newest version of vobsub support the usual text files too, I am going to update the guide, patience, it takes one or two days.

Which guide exactly are we talking about?
Yes.. I think I told you the whole story .. I have a .avi file and a .sub file .. I want to combain the two into one file (or two for VCD) in VCD format. Is it harder then I hoped it would be?

  14. Check the guides on this website on subbing and frameserving - Basically you add the subtitle filter in VirtualDub, then go to 'File/Start Frameserver'

You name your file something.avi, this is a temp file to which VD will send frames - another application like TMPGEnc can then pick them up and encode them.

Make sure to install the frameserver properly as per the instructions on this website.

    Cheers

Well... it seems to be synced ok, the video and the subtitles .. but the audio is very much OUT of sync. How might I be able to fix that?

  17. I made sure I read all posts in here before I asked this question. I purchased on the internet a Utility software that converts DVD to VCD and all of the software like: Flask and etc. were outdated.
To make a long story short, It shocked me but it worked ! I rented Drunken Monk(Jackie Chan) and used the programs correctly and burned the movie on a 80 Minute CD, Very clear too. I put the movie in my DVD player it it started imediatey with no subtitles or menus, the only problem is that I forgot to set the settings to a 2hour movie instead I only had half a movie on my CD. So I went back and changed the settings to 2 hours and now I got a whole entire movie with Menus and subtitles and etc. And I can't even cut it in half with the Tmpegnc because when I get ready to cut it all it shows is the Menus and titles and etc. Now I'm upset ! When I had the settings for a 30 minute movie it played the movie and nothing else and when I change it to a 2 hour movie, I got all this Menu, special features and F.B.I. warning crap !!! I can't cut the movie because of the Menus and etc.
Can someone " Plaease " help me ???? I'm going bald over here from pulling my hair out !

hmm, and which software did you use?

  19. Wel here's the software I used in order: First I used Clad DVD 2.0 version, Second I used FlaskMPEG, Then when I Tried to use " TMPEGnc " to cut the long movie in half, I click merge and cut, add the movie click on Edit to cut the movie but all it shows is the stupid menus, subtitles and etc. and not the movie after the menus and subtitles. The first time when I recoeded half the movie by accident and burned it with Nero on a blank C.D. and I put it in my DVD player, it went straightto the movie and no meus or nothing and the pisture was 96% clear as the original. I got so excited I jumped up and down ! So I new that all I need to do now was to change the settings to a 2 hour movie to get the whole thing and when I did that, Here comes these Damn menus and etc thats stopping me from cuttting the movie in half. Is there any help, for the Widows Son ?
