I'm ready to burn a bunch of DVD blanks but I noticed when previewing the .iso that VLC cuts off a whole 20 seconds from a beginning of a title. I've checked this several times for certain. Then I remembered something like this happening before and went ahead and burnt a DVD-RW test disc anyway. Sure enough, the disc plays fine - no problems. Is there an issue with VLC and .iso?

    Running VLC v1.0.0 Goldeneye

  2. I had a related issue when I used to use Adobe Encore to make my DVDs. For whatever reason, the DVDs that Encore would produce would either be out of order, or it would skip whole titles during playback. And only when I actually burned the video files to the disc, and played it on a normal player, would it play correctly.

I tried playing the image and even the folders in another player and they're fine.
It's only in VLC that it skips some of the title...either played from the HDD or even the tray.

    What do you think?
I'd hate to sell someone a disc they end up playing on their computer with VLC.
I'm sure they'd think something's wrong with the disc...

  5. VLC is now up to version 2.01. What does the current version do with your .iso?

Does VLC play the DVD version okay?

IF VLC is uncooperative with your .iso, but you are planning to provide DVDs (which you indicate work just fine, if your test DVD-RW is an indication), why are you worried about the .iso if you are not providing an .iso to your recipients?

I updated to v2 and can't get it to screwup anymore so that must have been it.
I thought I updated this crud a few months ago but I guess it was my brother's box.
Why? It's just another test. You'll learn to test over and over if you're selling a production.
    Thanks

VLC skips the main menu. It has ALWAYS done this. Version 2 does it for me still. If you have 20 seconds of intro before your main menu, yes, it will skip it.

I'm not criticizing you, but because of this behavior programs like Arcsoft Total Media Theater and (shudder) PowerDVD are better to test with.
