  1. I would like to add chapters to my blu-ray rips, yet many programs seek only to iframes, and sometimes these frames are before a scene change, and it just looks bad when I switch to them. Is there some way I can use multiple passes and a list of frame numbers where I would like iframes to be? It only makes sense to me that iframes should be at scene changes, where a LOT of stuff changes on screen all at once... but alas x264.exe isn't smart enough to do that in all cases I guess.

So are you implying that you know more about video encoding than the authors of x264 or even MPEP-2 for that mater? I don't know of any toll that lets you arbitrarily place iframes. But x264 is open source you can always grab the source and roll your own flavor.
Murphy's law taught me everything I know.

  4. Oh my god. Poisondeathray, <3 you so much. Shame I didn't see your link to chaptergen earlier on. I looked up qpfile on google and found a tool somebody made to make files (called framebasedtool) and I successfully used and tested with that, though it took me a lot of manual work. Now after seeing chaptergen in action, I just have to shake my head at how easy it could have been for me.
