I have HD television with a roof antenna. The reception is great, very happy. I just got a small, 19" LED TV for our bedroom and the "rabbit ears" type antenna I have is not going to cut it. I was considering applying a simple splitter to the cable from our roof antenna and run it into the bedroom, about a 15 ft. run into the TV since the cable runs across the roof immediately outside the bedroom window. Only one TV at a time will ever be on, we don't watch a lot of TV in our house.
Ok, question: I can add a simple splitter to the roof cable, OR I can easily add one more antenna to the pole on the roof and run a separate cable to the bedroom TV. Which is better, or does it really make any real difference? I have read that adding a splitter will degrade the signal quality, others say it does not make any visible difference for only two TVs. I would appreciate any input from anyone who has done this. Thanks...
[EDIT ADDON]: Long as I'm on the topic.... has anyone used a roof antenna to connect FM radio? I have a stereo with FM receiver, and was just wondering if anyone has tried this and what the result was. Thanks (again)...

You can try to split the cable first to see if it work for you. If you are loosing the signals then try installing a mast mount preamplifier and then split the cable. You can get something like this http://www.amazon.com/Winegard-ANWI8700-AP-Signal-Amplifier/dp/B001DFZ5EW/ref=sr_1_3?i...6712330&sr=8-3
That way you do not have to buy another antenna.

Most times FM radio isn't that critical for antennas. Most of us just hang a wire out the back of the receiver and it works well enough. A rooftop antenna, no matter what type, would likely be a large improvement over that. You would need a three way splitter for both TVs and the FM receiver. If too much signal loss, then look into a amplifier that would cover the UHF OTA band and the FM radio band.

Ditto here. THough I really don't listen to fm radio at home much. Usually I just listen to it in the car.

If you are really into listening to radio you could also look into hd radio which is supposed to have a sharper quality to it. Though if you already have poor reception I'm not sure how the hd signal would be picked up. It would probably need to be stronger to get enough bits to be picked up. Since at least for the digital tv broadcasts there is a digital drop off whereas with analog signals its a slow fade that can be picked up albeit with static. Digital needs a certain minimum strength to work at all.
