    Hi
I would like to be able to rip selected clips/songs from my music DVDs. Some DVDs have songs that are in the middle of scenes. I asked about this on the JRiver forum to no avail. I ripped a DVD using JRiver and it froze my computer.
What I really want to know is is it possible to do this and retain the same audio and video quality as the original. If it is I am willing to give it a go as I imagine it is somewhat involved. I have some some BluRays as well. If it is only possible to get a version of lessor quality I dont think I would be interested.
Would be very grateful if someone could answer this for me as I have had no luck finding out anything on this issue.

You can use dvd shrink to cut out clips without reconverting and losing quality, see https://forum.videohelp.com/topic358361.html (skip the conversion to avi).

You might have to rip with dvdfab decrypter or install dvdfab passkey or anydvd if dvd shrink fails(for commercial dvds).

And for blur-ray I think you can use dvdfab to cut out by chapters.

Thanks for your quick response. Much appreciated. Sounds like it is possible so will give it a go via the software you mentioned.

  4. After ripping with DVDFab you can use Mpg2Cut2 to open the VOB files, mark clips, and save them as MPG files.

I've done this with dvdshrink a number of times, but dvdfab hd decrypter may well be necessary for newer discs.
