  1. I am in the process of trying to convert a couple movies I downloaded off the net that are in 25 fps to 23.97 fps. In reading as many of the posts that I could get my hands on regarding this, I determined that I can encode the video only in tmpge but I have to convert my audio to a wav file which I did with Virtualdub, and then convert that wav file to an mp2 and change the frame rate. I used Truman's guide under "Framerate Conversion" to get this info. So I downloaded BeSweet GUI v0.6 b35. I managed to get the input file in and my designated output file, I didn't put anything on the SSRC cuz I don't need to change my sampling rate and I didn't put anything on the 2LAME page either. I clicked the button WAV to MP2 but then another BeSweet guide came up already populated. On the bottom of the first program it does say "transcoding" but it's been at it for a couple of hours now. Does it sound like I'm doing this right? Does BeSweet take as long as tmpge does with some of it's encoding? Why did I get another application popping up? Any help from someone who uses this program will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The conversion with besweet is quite fast (~20-40 min / movie). You are working with the BeSweetGUI. When you press "WAV to MP2", a 2nd window will pop up, that show you the status of the conversion. It will close when it's finished.

  3. Truman,

Thank you for your reply. I don't mean to sound stupid but would you suggest that I download another version of BeSweet? By the way, the BeSweet GUI version I had was on it's 17th hour when I closed the 2nd application and then I got a notepad box coming up asking me if I wanted to create something. I closed that and then the 1st box gave the elapsed time at the bottom, but my mp2 file was never created. I'm not sure what to do.

The latest version, that I used is BeSweet1.3beta1 with azid.dll v.1.8, MP2enc.dll modified by DSPguru and BeSweetGUI v.0.6beta22.
Not sure whether that will work better for you.

  5. OK, here's a really dumb question I'm sure. How do I reset my selections? I accidently clicked on the 2Lame button instead of BeSweet and chose and input and output file but now I can't remove them.

It does not matter. The BeSweetGUI is a Azid / Lame / tooLame GUI as well. As long as you use BeSweet, only the filenames at the BeSwwet tab are important. But use the Azid / tooLame tabs to configure.

You can not remove it, only overwrite, but you do not need to care about.

  7. Truman,

Thank you so much for all your help. I think I'm getting there. I am trying to change the framerate on a wav file I created in vdub so I entered that as the input file, i have my besweet gui.exe file loaded and I would just like to keep my file as a wav file rather than convert it to mp2. (That's how I bring my audio to my authoring program). So since I want my new wav file to be in the same folder as my existing one, I changed the name and kept it as a wav, and I think I have everything else filled in. So on the BeSweet page I clicked WAV to WAV and I got the 2nd application popping up, with all the same files loaded and same items marked. When I go back to the first application, it says "transcoding" at the bottom. But you say that it should only take about 40 mins to encode a movie wav file. If after that time, it still doesn't look like anything is happening, what do you think my problem might be? Also, you say that it is normal for a 2nd BeSweet application to start when I run the first one. That seems odd to me. I've seen some programs like vdub's when a little status box comes up, but that's not what I've got, I've got a duplicate application screen. I'm sorry to bug you on this issue, I'm sure it's basic stuff for you, but for some reason I'm just having a hell of a time with this program. Thank you very much.

Well, I think I know what went wrong. At the BeSweet tab you have to select input file, output file and the location of besweet.exe. I guess there you selected besweetGUI.exe. Did you?

  10. I can't get your picture to come up, but to answer your question, I thought I had the BeSweet.exe file populated with the BeSweet gui.exe file, but I'm not so sure. The path where I had this file was as follows - C:\Documents & Settings\my user name\Desktop\Setup\BeSweetgui\BeSweetgui0.6b35.exe .
Pretty long, so after I selected this path, the entire name did not show up on the BeSweet exe file line. I just thought it was too long to fit. However, after about 1:30 hrs, I came back to check the progress and it was still "transcoding". I then exited the 2nd application and when I did a "notepad" box came up saying "cannot find the c:\documents & settings\my user name\desktop\etc, etc and asked if I wanted to create this file. So.... I moved the location to Program Files and loaded it up again and this time I do see the name of the entire path. I ran it again and I still get the 2nd application coming up and it still says "transcoding" on the bottom of the 1st one. I'll see if this one works. Cross your fingers.

  11. Hey now I see the picture. Is that bottom box suppsed to come up? If so, I don't get that, I just get another box just like the top one, populated exactly the same.

    Go back to DSPguru's site. >>> http://dspguru.doom9.net/
You need BeSweet.exe, You need several .dll. Download besweet.exe v.1.2. If you like, you may update to 1.3b5. Download the package, it contains onlx besweet.exe and lame.dll. Copy both to the besweet directory, the old ones will get overwritten. BeSweet is a command line based tool. You can work with it as it is.
Now comes the GraphicUserInterface into the game. It helps to make working with the tool more comfortable. First step is to define the location of the application, i.e. BeSweet.EXE, then you may proceed.
Do not confuse besweet.exe and besweetGUI.exe.
    Hope it helps
