Greetings
I purchased this device and I'm trying to watch a movie MKV via USB with Translation Hebrew downloading.
When he plays the translation appears in gibberish and not Hebrew. I tried to change the language code according to the brochure explaining the device but the device does not recognize the code of Hebrew is 2769.
Does anyone have a solution or perhaps current code language Hebrew?
Thank you.

My experience with Philips is that their players only support a limited number of subtitle character sets in file play mode (ie. MKV, Divx, etc.). Let me guess - you did not buy this player in Israel? Am I right?
On American and European models, I've only seen Philips support Latin and Cyrillic character sets (Greek may be OK too, but I have not checked). Asian models may support Chinese, Japanese, Korean and perhaps Thai in addition to Latin characters. If you really did buy your player in Israel, contact Philips and ask for help. The only other thing I can tell you is that Unicode usually is not supported unless it uses Latin or (maybe) Cyrillic characters.
One more thing - sometimes Philips supports only weird character sets. Their DVD players in the mid 2000s for a while only supported a very old and no longer commonly used character set for Cyrillic. Is there another character set for Hebrew that you can try? -
Thanks for the reply.
I bought the device in Israel, so I will try to talk with their support.
Much obliged. -
We get a lot of people who post here that buy Philips players in North America or Europe, take them home to various countries and can't play subtitles on Divx, MKV, etc so at least you didn't do that. I am not totally sure about this, but I think I remember once we had a post from someone who bought a player in Israel and the manufacturer told him that it did not support Hebrew subtitles. You'll definitely have to talk to Philips and get help from them but I am afraid that there may be some chance, as stupid as it is, that your player simply may not support Hebrew subtitles.
Usually Philips players come with a manual that tells you what subtitle formats and character sets it supports. Please note that there are usually limits on which subtitle formats they will support, regardless of character set. SRT is always the best supported so if your subtitles are another format, you might also try converting them to SRT and see if that is the real problem.
