hope i am posting in the correct place. i am having problems using multiAVCHD and wonder if someone can guide me, please?
i have 'the bourne trilogy' on blu ray disks and wanted to back up the movie only part of each disk to a single blu ray blank disk. i ripped the 'movie only' from each disk to BD9 and the resulting files were each around 7.8gig. i then used multiAVCHD to try to get the 3 files, with a menu, to a single file so i could burn to a 25gig blank disk. i added the 3 files into multiAVCHD. i had reduced the bitrate for each movie in the transcoding settings to approx 7800 megs which i thought would be ok (dont know why they were bigger here than the originals), but obviously not. did i do right? also, as i chose 25000meg for each movie in the transcoding settings as well. was that right? i did chose PAL for the TV system and selected for a 'top menu' to be produced. i left 2 audio tracks for each movie, stereo and master audio. however, i discovered that the resulting file was 33.3 gigs!anyone point out what i did wrong, please? unable to get to multiAVCHD site, so hope no objections to me asking the experts here.
TIA

Yeah the site has been hit or miss lately. I believe the extra audio tracks may be the culprit, take one of the audio tracks out and see if that does the trick. Just a thought. Good Luck.

tnx for reply. the only audio i can remoce is the AC3/2. that gives the commentary, as i discovered after using first. the other audio is for English only, under the master audio choice. have gone down the anydvd and BD Rebulder route again. file size is smaller than through dvdfab, so hopefully will fit on disk now. gonna try in a while. will post back with result. what i thought was a bit strange was that dvdfab chose a different 'movie only' file to BD Rebuilder. dont know why. same number of chapters, same length, just dirrent for number of 'angles'. if anyone has any other info, would be grateful

sorted most of the problems now but still cant get a menu do show when playing on ps3, except for the initial screen that appears for 3 seconds, giving just the name of the compilation. anyone able to help with the settings in multiAVCHD for this to work, please?

Under the the Authur tab there are certain options for the menu and welcome screen. I usually choose "create menu" then tick "XMB" style menu. Make sure "skip top menu" is not ticked.

tnx for further info. still not happening for me. after getting everything on to a disk, which plays fine, the only piece of a menu that shows on screen is, for just 2secs, is a pic with the name of the compilation on. there are no pics for the individual movies and no list either. i have to either watch from start of disk, or fast forward to the movie i want to watch. i have no availability to select what to watch. very frustrating! obviously got a/some settings wrong somewhere, but i dont know what. mine is as your info above, but nada on screen!

FYI you can preview the menu and chapters before converting to make sure you have it right. Also you play the file using a media player to make sure it's ok before burning it to disc. Hope that helps.

tnx for that mate. i didn't know. dont remember seeing that info anywhere either.
found what you meant. when i previewed the menu in avchd, all looks to be there, but nothing shows on screen after burning to disk. a 2 sec glimpse of a pic with the compilation name, then there is just a totally black screen with some background music. no buttons or pics, nothing to click on.Last edited by kevpc; 17th Feb 2011 at 16:21. kevpc,
I know you're dead set on viewing the menu but I'm sorry to have to tell you that you really don't need it. It's really unnecessary when you merely want to view the show episodes in order and it creates more hassle than it's worth dealing with. So just do like me and excise the menus and enjoy watching your favorite shows uncompressed with HD audio. It's even better watching them back to back from an external HDD! -
tnx for reply, SuperFist. what i had to do to get things working was togo to the PS3 menu and select the menu options i wanted to see. i then had to close the PS3 menu and just use the options i had chosen in the first step. i could then select which of the movies i wanted to view. that seemed to work, at least for me. dont know if there is a better/easier mehod.

almost exactly a year since i posted here, so not sure if i should continue or start a new post. the help i received before was most welcome.
anyway, wonder if someone can offer a bit more advice to what was given before, please? am now using windows 7, x64 on a different machine. could someone tell me if i need to install avisynth, ffdshow and haali to be able to use multiavchd again? what versions of each do i need and are they x64 or x86 versions needed?
next thing is, what settings would i need to use and where, to enable me to put 3 movies on to 1 25gig blu-ray disk, utilising as much space as possible? seen the 1/4 and the 1/2 options but not a 1/3 choice.
tnx to anyone who can help -
use the "fit all" function on the screen that you add the media files. it will do all the calculations for you automatically.

tnx for reply, Farscape1. i hadn't even seen that. probably wouldn't have associated it with that anyway.
could you advise on the questions concerning the 'add-ons' i asked about? what versions i need and will they work ok on windows 7 x64? i have installed avisynth 2.58 already.
tnx again
