I know that a pal signal on older American TVs will produce a black and white picture that is rolling.
My question is:
1) On the new flat screen TVs, what will happen if connected to a pal signal.
2) Does the answer depend on the connection used, ie HDMI, composite, component, etc
I played a pal DVD on a new LG DVD/Blu-ray player connected to a new LG TV, and the picture was very good. I'm not sure what kind of connection was used between the DVD player and the TV, (could have been HDMI), but I was surprised that the system was able to play a pal DVD.

The answer depends on the particular model TV and the connection. Anything from nothing at all to proper playback.
