Hello! Any information on changing region code for DVD player Samsung HT- A100 ? (I'm in Hong Kong - region code 3)
Also, it seems very sensitive to any disc that has even one tiny mark on it (I have cleaned discs prior to tyrying to use.)
Thank you for any help. b.

Not all players can be made region free. Sometimes manufacturers change hardware during production and this breaks hacks that used to work.

If you bought your player in the USA (you don't say), that was really a bad idea because we are getting reports all the time about how players sold in Canada and the USA can't be made region free any more. It seems that Holllywood got to just about everybody, even Philips. who sold players here and convinced them not to allow those players to be made region free. A few years ago it was just about impossible to find a Philips player that couldn't be made region free in the USA/Canada and now we get reports even for Philips players that they can't be put into region free mode.

If you haven't done so, definitely do a Google search to see if anyone has any region code changing info for this machine. A search on something like:
    Samsung HT-A100 region free hack
may or may not turn up something helpful. It doesn't hurt to ask here like you did as some people do get working unlock codes just by asking, but we also have a lot of people who get silence, like you, because there are no unlock codes for their player.

    Hi!

This hack for HT-XA100 worked for my HT-A100!!

    1. Remove disc from tray.
    2. Switch off player and unplug from mains.
    3. Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect mains.
    4. Turn on player with remote. Wait for player to finish loading and display 'no disc'.
    5. Press enter on remote. (There will be no on-screen response.)
    6. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9 on the remote. (There will be no on-screen response.)
    7. Press enter on the remote. Player will automatically shut off.
    8. Turn player on. (NOT FROM REMOTE)
    9. turn off. (NOT FROM REMOTE)
    10. Turn player off then on again. (Maybe you can try 2 ways turn on and off and on again and just turning on)
    11. Player is now region-free.

Some comments on Veijito's post above...

    1) A lot of what he says to do sounds like bs to me. Unplug from mains? Turn player on/off/on? Really?
    2) Other sources give a COMPLETELY different and MUCH simpler hack for the HT-XA100.
    3) We've had people join the forums before simply to post working hacks for old players that for years have never had any working hacks suggested like here. I remain deeply suspicious of the motivations of such posters and I must warn readers that you should consider the possibility that this hack is complete bs and it may in fact brick your player.
    4) Samsung players of all types remain some of the most difficult in the world to unlock and if you haven't already bought one, there is no way I would recommend buying one (if they even still make this model) and just hoping this works. Plus, many of the hacks only work on models sold in specific regions of the world, usually Australia, and NOT at all on the same model sold elsewhere such as the USA.

    Hi!
This is the first time I join a forum at all. But I have used hacks from VideoHelp before with great succes. I got this HT-A100 from a friend who didn't need it any more and it's bought in Sweden. I was unsuccesfull in finding a hack for this player, and as u say I dont even think it's sold any more....but then I found this hack posted on this forum for the HT-XA100. I didn't know there was risk for my player to break down following previously posted hack. Maybe the hack works without the need of shutting it down/on several times..i don't know...all I know is that i WORKED for me. Since it did work and I couldn't find any hack for my player anywhere I thought I would give some help to others and reposted the hack here!
