I have tried removing DRM from videos I have purchased, but the results were jerky image and poor sound quality.
I have been told that the problem is the CPU. I have an Athlon 64 3200+ which I thought would have been fast enough to do the job, but apparently not. Does anyone have any recommendations as to a suitable CPU?

Nothing to do with the CPU. Also, if at all possible, don't buy DRM'd media files.
