  1. I (=newbie) bought me a DV-343 last week, but hacks won't work for me. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Pioneer would remove the _hack_ functionality from their dvd players, so I was wondering if they already have implemented this ?
Would there be any functioning hacks for it ?
(I don't remember the firmware version displayed, I could get that posted tomorrow..)
I'm asking this as I still have the option to return it and get a refund (the player was advertised as having this functionality).
Thanks in advance for any helpful reply..

some pioneer player have a jumper on the drive, which enables/disables FW updates.Maybe this is the cas with your player.I'd check the manual and the drive. My pioneer has this option, but it's a different model.
This might work only on DVD players with PC DVD-ROM drives.

  4. Okay - I've received response from the retailer that sold me the player, and it turns out that most new Pioneer players no longer support the old "standard hack" from the menu. My problem will be solved in that I'll return the player for getting modified (at no cost for me, since I ordered it "labeled" multiregion - great service ).

  6. Don't remember what firmware my player's got (am not at home atm).

Hmm, as long as not being a fellow Norwegian, I doubt you will find the company I used useful (komplett.no).

I dunno about your local consumer protective legislation, but I'd definetely complain formally to company in question if the player was advertised as being "multi-region". In such a case you simply haven't received the product you ordered (which was the case for me).

Any new pioneer dv 34X-series player is said to have this hack possibility removed. Only through (physical) modification is multi-region available.
