  1. Hello everybody. First of all, 'scuse my terrible English. I'm a complete newbie with subtitle workshop and I have this little problem: After having lowered the maximum duration of a subtitle, I'd like to automatically reduce the gap between subtitles to 1 millisecond. Thanks for you help!

  2. I'm fairly sure that's less than the allowable spec, but that would completely blow the synch with audio, why do you want to do this?

I just checked a PAL news broadcast, and they used a 3 frame gap between subtitles for continuous speech. Say 3.5 for rounding your times to frames, and you have 140 milliseconds.
If you put some trust in the professionals, then that gap is there for a reason: easier reading.

I've also seen the number of 0.085 second per character for subtitles, as a default whenever possible.
