HP DVD100 to go DVD-R

Before I bought this drive I could swear that there was talk of HP updating this drive to DVD-R. Has there been any further discussion regarding this? This DVD+RW media is breaking me. Also, heard talk of the Pioneer A04, any news yet?

Unconfirmed rumor but it looks like 2nd gen of DVD+RW drive will have the R feature. First Gen wont be upgradable to handle DVD-R media.

They won't be upgradable to DVD-R, it will be DVD+R.

Actually the new drives will have +R support. The old drives will not be upgradable to +R because there was a H/W change needed to do this.

Oops! I ment DVD+R and not DVD-R.

Also unconfirmed that the "DVD" group said somthing about that DVD+RW are not part of their standard but DVD-R are.
