  1. I use VLC media player to play my DVDs that I buy on my computer.

I have a 28 inch LCD monitor and it is connected to my computer through an HDMi cable.

Now my DVDs play ok and look good but in my VLC video settings I see a check box that says De Interlace.

I did not put a checkmarck in it I left it Blank.

Now I just foundout from the net that VLC media player does not have a built in Interlace Detecter.

So I think then this meens what ever is being sent to the VLC media player it just plays as is.

So by me leaving the De Interlace box un checked what does this meen?

If it's a DVD, you don't want to deinterlace it. That's more common for converting to AVI type formats. VLC does have a auto deinterlace, at least in the later versions.

If you have interlace problems, it's usually fairly obvious. Some examples here: http://www.100fps.com/

De Interlace in this instance probably means that VLC is playing the video as progressive and ignoring any pulldown flag - but this is just a guess.

If the DVD plays fine as it is, why worry about it?

So I have De Interlace set to OFF.

Abd it plays my DVDs great so what is it doing keeping them Interlaced or what?
