I've downloaded the H.264 reference software here and tried different versions. I've found those algorithms:
I'm wondering if they implemented a version with the diamond search for motion estimation, if not, where can I find it coded in C?

	diamond search is an available option implemented in x264, the open source avc encoder. You can have a look at the source
