I just signed up to be a potential test member for this new xbox 360 disc format. I read about it on g4tv.com.

What is this going to be?

I've read its not bluray. That would obviously require a drive addon and that would be unlikely for a test group of any size.

I still have my xbox 360 hd-dvd drive. You wouldn't think they'd be trying to unload unsold hardware of these drives for some new improved hd-dvd format do you?

I'm in the pool to be selected. it said something about two weeks for the selections to be made and the trials to begin. is there any reliable information on this?

Somebody was posting this could be dvd-18. I have to read up on that. Is that a multi-layer flipper disc?

Ah it is a dual layer flipper disc.

So nearly 16 gbs. That would equate to a single layer hd-dvd disc wouldn't it? That would be an improvement over a single sided 8gb disc. But would microsoft do that? Be happy with just a hub label? no art work on a disc? I can't imagine that would be done......

    edit UPDATE:

    http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/711402/rumor-360-disc-format-adds-1gb-to-360-dvds/

    Possible rumor---------

Adding a gb to the structure they imposed themselves???

Well if it works but kind of a let down. If true its not something wildly futuristic just an under the hood tweak....

Hope its a rumor and it really is something wowing like a holographic disc addon or something......
