Is it not possible just to extract the movie clip on audio cds and burn them on vcd format?
The video movies on the audio cds I have all have ".mov" after the title, why do these have to be converted first to mpeg?

Hi,
Your (Like every other...) VCD/DVD player has a MPEG decoder build in. Mpeg offers good quality/compression ratio. Which .Mov files do not. Your VCD/DVD player is able to decode a mpeg stream to a video and/or audio signal. Sometimes even non standard (XVCD/XSVCD) signals, but ALWAYS Mpeg.
It would be to hard to make a player with support for all the different formats that are out there. To name but a few :
.Mov .AIV (Uncompressed) .Avi (DivX) .ASF .FLI etc. etc.
Every format has a different way of decoding, so the amount of hardware to support this would be immense.
