I have already posted my first impressions in the LightWorks forums
My first impressions ?
I think calling this version a beta is being generous. Admittedly this is after only a short play, however so far
1. Press record and Lightworks closes. No warning, no dialogue, just gone. Same thing happens when attempting to change the compression parameters.
2. Cannot import any footage at all yet. I have some pretty vanilla HD AVC footage. I can get the import to recognise it, but when I hit start, the import dialogue closes and nothing gets imported. Attempts to import other material, including H264 and Xvid encoded material results in Lightworks closing without warning.
3. After approx 10 minutes of being unable to do anything Lightworks starts giving low memory warnings. A check of Task Manager shows it has consumed over 500MB of memory without actually having done anything. This is up from 57MB at launch, and 87 MB after opening my initial (empty) test project.
4. There appears to be no way to create footage from nothing - a title or an effect based clip.
So far, as I cannot import or create any footage, I can't say much else about it. It looks nice. It certainly does not seem to be designed for the home user or even semi-pro unless they have substantial time to invest. I do hope that the initial development is rapid so we get to a more stable point what allows for at least the import of pretty standard footage. It might then become beta. At the moment it feels more like an Alpha release to me.
Of course if we all had access to a Red then it might be easier. But we don't.Read my blog here.

Mp4 files exported from DVD slideshow GUI works without problems - if you need some clips to play with.
If it doesn't run then try to start it with the ntcardvt.exe file in the program folder. -
Got the beta, but it seems that Matrox took down VFWCodecs_10.exe.
Anybody has it? Pleaseeee -
I didn't have any problems DLing the Matrox codec a few minutes ago: http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/windows/vfw_software_codecs/downloads/softwares/version1.0/
I haven't installed the program yet, maybe this evening. -

Anyone playing with 10.0.03 beta?
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
FYI, on the Lightworks forum there is a document with the three standard keyboard shortcuts listed, there is a second post with a rough glossary of what each available keyboard command can do for those that want to program a custom shortcut set. There is also rough information on using (programming) a ShuttleXpress jog/shuttle controller.
And from the sounds of it there should be a new version shortly, might be only a week or two away by the hints going around.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better...
