I have this DVD/VHS combo which has given good service since 2005. Recently it stopped showing the VHS tape output and the TV output (although the sound is fine).
The picture on the TV screen is a patchwork of mainly pink snow (not moving but static).
The DVD section works perfectly for playing but only records the pink static from both the TV signal and when attempting to copy from tape. CDs play fine too.
Local repair shops won't even take a look as they say it's too old.
Tried the usual things (cleaning, changing scart leads, cleaning contacts etc and have air blown the insides) but to no avail.
I have quite a few unfinalised DVDs that I have burned so really need to get it up and running again (plus it has the required inputs for my video camera which are missing on newer DVD/VCR combos)
Anyone have any ideas what the possible problem could be and any possible solutions.
I have noticed several other people having a similar problem posting on the Internet but with no replies.
Thanks.

Given your inability to find someone willing to repair it (and to be fair it may be next to impossible to find parts for this old player), you may have to settle for trying to rescue your unfinalized DVDs. Programs such as ISOPuzzle or ISOBuster or Nero Recode may be able to extract the video off the unfinalized discs to your hard drive and then you could make a new DVD from it. Nero Recode may offer the ability to copy from disc to disc and eliminate the step of going to the hard drive first. It's also possible that none of these will work.
Another option would be the risky adventure of trying to buy a used one off Ebay and hoping it lasts long enough to finalize your discs. It seems to me that your player is going to need a professional repair and there's nothing you as a consumer can really do to fix it.
