  1. Hi this is now I make my SVCD with the ALL IN WONDER RADEON 32DDR card I maked a custom setting witch is a real SVCD setting Call it
"SVCD VBR" where is say's enter name of what you want to call it hit next just change the the sice of the picture to 480*480 now hit next you will see number of frame groups just hit next now click on
"Variable Bit Rate" now for the scale move it so it say's 2.57 now for Mostion Estimation Quality I move mine up to 100 I have a AMD 1.8XP chip if you CPU is slow you might have to bring it down now hit next if you use windows 98 set it to 4gig's thats all NTFS can handle if your windows 2000 and NTFS you can leave it to 4.7 or windows limit if you capture over 4 gig use TMPG to edit it will be very slow to edit a big file like that now go to STINKy website also i might want to add a big thank you to STINKY for making a great little program that ATI is to stupit to make you can get the reg tool here

NOTE WHEN useing MMC REG tool shut down the TV when making update's

Note when USEING MPEG2VCR 3.11 to edit where it say's file type of type click ALL so MPEG2VCR can see it

    http://stinky.dosrules.com/

I used the old reg tool and it works on MMC 7.6

Now open up MMC 7 Registy TOOL click on SVCD VBR hit edit profile where you see Bitrate you will see 2572000 I push SVCD to the limit that
    2600000
I have played my SVCD in my APEX and JVC no problem but if you do try 2520000 SVCD and be from 2000000 all the way up to 2600000 I also have a Dazzle 2 there SVCD setting is 2400000 and I oush it to 2600000 it help's out alot with pixel's better picture try 2600000 Now how to edit I use MPEG2VCR 3.11 edit with the SVCD setting I edit out all the commercail and put it all back together with no lip sync problem at all. From the setting i gave you you can get 50 minutes of video on a 80 minute CDR but ever show as different colors and use more or less space I do Babylon 5 ever day take around 500 megs the old Star Trek take about 600 megs but ever episode is never the same give or take 50 or 100 megs up or down. I have not tried TMPG as a edittor but i Do not think it will have any lip sync problem i use MPEG2VCR 3.11 its alot faster then TMPG

now make another SVCD setting and call it SVCD CBR do all the setting the same the only thing that you want to change is click on the white dot that says "Constant Bit Rate" CBR take's up more space and get's around 35 to 40 minutes on my setting i make now open up the Stinky reg tool again never update a setting when the TV is running shut it off click on SVCD CBR hit edit profile change it again to 2600000 where it say's bitrate where it say's VBR mode click OFF now hit update if you do comedy set it to CBR for one episode set it to VBR but you can make you own setting to get more space my setting are to keep one episode on one CD and get the best picture

  2. thanks sriderman. the trick here is using mper2vcr. when you edit in mpeg2vcr and save the edits choose the svcd option. when mpeg2vcr process the cuts it is actually muxing them to the svcd standard. i've been doing this for a while and it saves the demux step. as a matter of fact if you have a capture and it requires no editing you can still use this process. simply cut the entire capture. by that i mean cut it from the first frame to the last frame. this 'edit' can then be saved with the svcd option in mpeg2vcr. this eliminates the demux step as well.
or you can use tmpeg and do a simple mux of the whole file which also eliminates the demux step.

Which is faster, using MPEG2VCR or TMPGen to do the job. If the file is very large, over 4 GB, TMPGen is very slow.

I just took a quick look for MPEG2VCR and could not find it in the TOOLS
section. Where do you get it. Is it Freeware????

Your note indicates you use it for Editing,... how good is it as an editor??

  5. TMPG is slower MPEG2VCR is alot fast but MPEG2VCR cannot go over the 4 gig limit in opening files TMPG can so I have both if i run into any problems. Most of the time I use MPEG2VCR 99 percent of the time
