  1. OK - here's what i want to do...
    PC = Windows XP AMD64 1GB ram
    Video card has HDMI out - DVI out and one other out...

    I want to run the netflix movies from my Media center PC to the Plasma TV and view the movies from the TV, but i want to use the sound from the A/V center and speakers, not the TV speakers. TV only has one HDMI in which now comes from Cable box.
    I also need to have the regular cable TV go thru the AV system using those speakers to work normally.
    Can i do this?
    BTW- TV is about 35' from PC on other side of room

    It sounds like you need a HDMI switcher, unless your surround sound amp already has one. 35' is OK for HDMI. My HDMI cable is 45' with no problems. Check out MonoPrice for HDMI cables and switchers. http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp

    For the audio, check your audio card settings. Mine has a setting to turn off HDMI audio. Then I use coaxial audio from my PCs to my surround amp. You could also use optical if your PC and amp support that. Even if your PC doesn't have a digital output jack to the rear, it's often available on the motherboard. You just need an adapter. I use my surround sound amp only for my PC audio output. No PC speakers.

    I also can view streamed Netflix on my video projection screen, though the quality isn't that great.

    And welcome to our forums.
