Quick n00b question regarding DVD Burners

What do I need to look for in a burner, I want one that will make DVDs out of my DivX files that play in MANY or ALL DVD players and can be used to back up data with. Also, what type of media would I need?

I would go for the Pioneer A03 or A04. The A04 has buffer under run technology. The DVD-R / DVD-RW have higher compatibliity than DVD+RW and DVD-R disks are getting less exspensive. As for Divx to DVD thats the function of software, not hardware to convert. Look into the guides section for how to convert from one format to another.
