  1. OK, please help me, I've been trying tons of Templates for TMPGenc for SVCDs, including some that make a whole movie in one disc
and I was wondering, instead of experimenting testing all 30 or so templates out there until I find the one with the best quality, if someone here can tell me what is the best template to use, when it comes to quality. Of course, I don't want to use 10 CDs per movie, but I guess 2-3 CDs is ok.
    Thanks.

  2. There are NO best template. Every movie needs a special template.
Use a bitrate calculator and see what you can get..

Do you mean that there is a program that, for any single film, can calculate the bet CBR/VBR settings ?

    Where ?
Does it receive in input directly the VOB file ?

It is intended only for the video and not for the audio, isn't it ?

  4. Here is what I have learned from templates:

1.) use them as a guideline when you are starting out.
2.) tinker with your own settings to get the best quality or least amount of disc space (if you want to save a 25 cents.)
3.) use a cdrw and burn some coasters to see what they look like.

There is no exact science to this. Its all up to your tastes.

Is there any template in Tmpgenc which can automatically split the file into right size to fit on 80min discs.

e.g. if I my movie is 150 mins and I select the bitrate so that the movie fits on 3 cds then it automatically makes 3 mpegs of sizes to fit on the 3 discs...

I am actually using DVDX and then using tmpgenc as a external encoder...

  6. templates will not split output, nor will they calculate bitrate for you
